Galeries Lafayette to open store in Qatar

The famous French brand Galeries Lafayette announces its opening in Doha within a luxury mall in 2016.

Katara Plaza shopping center with an area of 38 000 m² will host the luxury brand on a surface of 13 800 m2 on 3 levels.

The conglomerate controlled by the Qatari family Ben Ali is at the centre of the partnership since it will operate the brand as a franchise.

In Doha, the team is already set up, while the French architect Bruno Moinard, who has worked on other projects of  Galeries Lafayette in the past is currently leading the interior design work in progress, which should be, according to him, “more modern and technological” compared to more traditional other stores.

Although few details have been revealed concerning the brands to be implemented in the shopping centre, Galeries Lafayette suggested that 4 restaurants will be opened. The focus of ABA Group is to avoid competition between the brands within the Mall.

Galeries Lafayette confirm its objective to conquer international markets with two other projects in the pipeline ; in Istanbul through a franchise with Demsa Group which will open late 2016 and a stores in Milan in the coming Westfield Shopping Centre. Other agreements are being negotiated in China and Indonesia.
